Digital Spring Cleaning

Digital Spring Cleaning

This is a post from Sara Nash; Sara earned her degree in Public Relations from Penn State University. From there, she worked a PR agency in Boston before joining the PR and Social Media team at Vistaprint.

It is about that time again…spring cleaning! But this year, why not cover all of your bases and do a bit of digital spring cleaning as well? It’s so easy to get in a winter rut, but a little cleaning can help dig yourself out and get ready for the spring!

Empty your inbox: Do you remember the last time you saw the number “zero” next to your inbox? Dedicate one day to deleting old emails, and moving important ones into correct folders. You may even become more organized in the process, and continue sorting future emails as they come.

Invoices: Take this opportunity to not only organize your invoices, but also double check that they have all been paid. Can you get a head start and pay some in advance? Maybe set up automatic payments through your bank account, or at least mark your calendar when everything is due. Don’t wait until the last minute!

Refresh your marketing materials: Have you been sending out the same emails for years? Or maybe your logo and tagline could use an update. Take some time to refresh your digital look. Maybe you’ll snag some new customers in the process.

Update your website: Are the pictures on your site outdated? Swap them out to stay current. Double check and make sure all of your links are working and your prices, hours, etc. are accurate.

I do a bit of digital cleaning every few months - clear the desktop of all old files, make sure all backups are up-to-date so I don't lose important info, bring my email and Reader inbox down to zero and organize all my new music.
